Warning: spending time with the Disco Villains will decrease your life expectancy by fifteen years and double the cost of your insurance. Sleep is forgotten, food is consumed in one heaping dose a day [80 wings, some fries and mini burgers at Hooters]. Beer is consumed like water in the desert [120 beers first night + liquor]. And women will do anything to be a part of it (including a not-so-single girl who we later caught being lectured outside the venue by an angry boyfriend for kissing Nick [Religion].

What initially began as a Bopper Nation Friday outing in Los Angeles turned into a Weekend mini tour with Louie & Tony [The Disco Villains], Nick & Kevin [Religion aka 'The Black Disco Villains"-DV] as well as the entourage: Chendo, Chris & Fresh! Also fortunate to hang out and meet with Mikey [Shark Attack] and John [12th Planet]!

Los Angeles: Friday night was a bust at the venue where my apologies are extended to DJ Bam Bam, Hot Pink Delorean and of course The Disco Villains for being in that P.O.S., but at least they were paid! The stage which looked as though it had been crafted from leftover plywood earlier that day, slowly fell apart with the jumping performers. And the whole venue itself was one giant sauna literally dripping with sweat from the ceiling, floors and walls!

The conditions were so bad that Jenna, our photographer, couldn’t use her camera and after three songs by the Disco Villains the equipment itself stopped working and the show was over. And for the record The Disco Villains played the sh!t out of those three songs!

The real party in Los Angeles was the after parties, especially at Religion’s domain where Kevin & Tony took turns spinning records into the early early early AM and then beyond! Between Louie [Disco Villains] and Kevin [Religion] there was never a dull moment. Both kept the energy level high even into the next days when we were feeling the brutal effects of our massive consumption of alcohol!

The San Diego venue: The U-31 Cocktail Lounge was the complete opposite of the horrible venue in Los Angeles. For starters the stage was well built, it wasn’t an all ages venue littered with 12 year old baby prostitutes and most importantly it had air conditioning. My only personal complaint was that it was a bit commercial [people standing around, drinking cocktails and looking pretty]. However, The Disco Villains had a stacked guest-list and they aided in rousing the crowd!

Once the Disco Villains took the stage the whole venue was packed with their energy! Even Staccato, who is more minimal tech-based, played a heavy set to match The Villains! There was a minor issue with the monitors not working [which bugged Staccato more than anyone else] and there was a moment of power failure to the equipment during Disco Villains set, but other than that things ran well.

The Disco Villains:

Tony & Louie make great use of being a Duo. Armed with only cdjs and their ‘Bible’ [big book of cds] they each take turns on the deck performing tracks. Usually two songs a piece, but sometimes they will switch off track after track! During Louie’s turn, Tony will often unplug his headphones and find the nearest speaker to stand on top of! In the words of Tony, “Louie is Disco and Tony is Villain.” These two know how to amp up a crowd and I could easily see them matching the energy of the Bloody Beetroots and other energetic performers out there!

The Disco Villains set in San Diego opened up with their remix of ‘Hustlin’ and was followed by their remix of Shark Attack ‘Ghost Knives’ (Exclusively released on Bopper Nation and is now up on hypem (via hotbiscuits). When this song came on a calmer Mikey [Shark Attack] rushed into the DJ Booth amping up the crowd! Another tune that was played that hasn’t been heard awhile on the floor was the remixed ‘Jump Around,’ but the Villains know their crowd well and each song they put on got the floor moving!

As a special gift & opportunity to bring everyone to the Exclusive ‘Behind-the-Scenes’ world of the Disco Villains, I am putting up four tracks, all DEMOS. Built for transitions into other tracks and used exclusively for special events/parties.

The Vanilla Ice remix was played in San Diego and the response was great. Tony likes it, Louie not so much, I love it…let us know what you think Bopper Nation*

” did this remix just for fun, since we we’re djing at one of our buddies party here in Mexicali.. the party was called VANILLA HAMMER TIME”

Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby (Disco Villains Remix)

“this is a song i made for our 2nd gig in Guadalajara.. it has a sample of maybe the most recognized “mariachi” song of Mexico, which was made in Guadalajara” and “again I left it like this so I could mix it into another song (laidback luke – Hey!(Foamo Remix)..”

Disco Villains - Disco Xalisco Pt. 2 (DEMO)

“I did this one on March 2nd and it mixes really good with WARP”

Disco Villains - We Are (DEMO)

“supposed to be included in our 2nd EP, but since it’s really hard and i’m planning to have something more mature for our next release i left it out”
Disco Villains - Fight Night (DEMO)
