Nice-N-Fast

Hey Boppers.

Buckle up for some more oldies but goodies.

The first track today is a remix of Stuart Price’s band, Zoot Woman. But not just any remix, the Todd Edwards remix. This track features Todd Edwards’ signature sample cuts and vocal arrangement. Good fun if you feel like dropping some UK garage.

To wrap things up we have a track from Paul Johnson from some time in the mid 90s. Discogs doesn’t list an actual year this came out, but it sounds like its mid 90s. Its got some ghetto House sounds but no actual vocals. Lots of big sound coming out of this one. Lets also all give well wishes to Paul as he recently suffered an accident which has hospitalized him.

Regulate

Word up Boppers.

Get ready for some really great jams. I haven’t listened to these in ages, but damn they’re good. Reminds me why I got into House Music.

Our first track is a French House stomper by Fafa Monteco. It’s his remix of Regulate by fellow French House master, Demon. This track is full of energy and features some old school samples filtered up to radness. Lots of looping and lots of bass here.

Finally, we have a remix by Junior Sanchez of Les Rythmes Digitales, aka Stuart Price. Its got some nice jack drums running and lots of cool 80s vibes. I have a feeling Felix would definitely approve of this one. TRIVIA: Who can name what videogame the music in the intro is from?

I Wanna Be

Welcome to this installment of Mercurius FM Monday… we’ve been going strong for a while now, but don’t think I’m running out of posts. There’s still tons more classics to share with you.

Our first track is a classic cut from French House rockers, Archigram. This came out in 2003 on the legendary Crydamoure record label. It’s main musical component is fantastically sampled and then layered in with some thick house beats and buzzing synths. As with all of Archigram’s trax, its a very moody and overdrive drenched track, giving it a very raw and dirty sound.

Stuart Price, Jacques Lu Cont, Les Rythmes Digitales, Pour Homme, Thin White Duke… Man With Guitar. These are all the same person. The Man With Guitar alias was only used on a single release on Kitsuné. It was later revived for a remix/edit of Madonna (of which the original was produced by Stuart Price also). Its said Stuart Price was one of the first people to use a white noise sweep in his builds… thats amazing!
