Today we’ve got one newer remix and a way back classic.
First up is this classic House track from 1987. It features Paris Grey’s vocals along with fun 80s House production. Lots of triggered vocal samples, spacey synth leads, and funky bass all backed with a simple 808 beat. Have fun with this one.
This next track is a little newer than I like to post, but its great and has a variety of appealing elements. It’s main feature is the ghetto House type vocals cut and layered over a distorted and thoroughly mangled bassline. The drums keep things interesting too thanks to all the breaks and fills (a JFK hallmark). Another great remix by JFK of MSTRKRFT.
So here we are again. This time I’ve got some tunes that aren’t so aged but still pretty rad.
To start things off I’ve got a track off of Simian Mobile Disco’s first EP. Its a pretty cool tune that isn’t really hooked based but rather just continually evolves to epic proportions. This was another favorite of mine back then.
Next we have a dope remix by MSTRKRFT. I consider this one of their coolest remixes. You can hear definite JFK baseline work here along with some of the most rad “jack” drums you’ll hear in a dance track. This track reminds me a bit of some Green Velvet tracks, which is always a good thing in my book.

Boppernation has been given press passes and full coverage of the event. There will be 1 journalist (Wolf) and 1 photographer (Kozzik) on site covering the event.
*Linked names in the Set Times above will take you directly to tracks and former post from the artist we have already featured on our site. You will find many great tracks for listening & downloading. Enjoy
Many artist attending the show are great fans, supporters, boppers and artist we have already had the fortune of covering on our website (and will always promote again). A couple artist we’ve already had the fortune of press access to prior events and the rest are artist we LOVE and cannot wait to cover!
Felguk put on an amazing show in the club atmosphere of the Avalon, opening for Grum earlier this year and I’ve heard from many they destroyed EDC.
On my personal list: Plump DJs, Chase & Status and Kavinsky are the main artist that we have NOT had the pleasure and opportunity of seeing perform yet and cannot WAIT to enjoy!
Aside from the hot content that we have had the pleasure of releasing, Boppernation.com has been leaning more towards a heavy focus on the ‘scene‘ itself by developing articles consisting of interviews and reviews of shows and albums. This has been the hottest, most unique part of our website and it has helped to separate us from being just another ‘internet’ music blog.
Among the many artist listed, I myself will admit my love for DUB and am quite thankful that I already got to see Caspa, Skream & Benga earlier this year, because their time slots conflict with a lot of the other artist I am excited to see! (But for those of you who are into the Dubstep scene, these people are DUBSTEP! So their acts are NOT too be missed!
Inside sources have told me that the Labyrinth Stage is going to be filled with visuals that are out of this world. For those who fell in love with Etienne De Crecy’s Cube, Daft Punk’s Pyramid and recently Deadmau5′s stage & L.E.D. mask debuted at EDC, be ready to see a stage that will remind people of the video game Q*bert! ( We will be sure to get pictures of this madness)!!!!
Anyways, I hate to leave any names out, so let me rant a bit more:
I’ve heard Pretty Lights puts on an amazing show, as does Rabit. I’ve always been very curious to see NOISIA and Steve Angello, who rightfully so already has a great reputation so we honor this and deliver you the respect you deserve!
Anyways, Expect a FULL report from Wolf as well as a great deal of photos from our latest Photographer, Kozzik. Maybe I’ll sneak in an interview or two, pray that I have a great time and stay professional! As being involved in more Insomniac events would be amazing, EDC, Audiotistic, etc etc. Afterall, these people know how to do it right and were the first to remove the teeny boppers and put the 18+ cap! *Thank GAWD and be SAFE!
Insomniac puts on a lot of great shows and we gotta give them a good impression, so Boppers give them love!
Is there a a better way to get an early kickstart on a BIG weekend for Boppernation.com than to include a post on two BIG well-known artist (MSTRKRFT & Laidback Luke)?
But, before we dive into this release, let me start from the top. For those who don’t know we were invited to cover Nocturnal Festival’s huge event this weekend, taking place Saturday September 25th. The lineup includes many featured Bopper artist: Plump DJs, JFK of MSTRKRFT, 12th Planet and Dada Life. Two of the four we’ve already had the pleasure of meeting as well as attending with press coverage at their events, which is all available on the site in the ‘Scene‘ section, photos of Dada Life in our ‘Gallery‘ section. *More information on Nocturnal & full lineup: [Available Here]
*Official video of original track
Among many other GREAT artist performing at this weekends event is JFK of MSTRKRFT. Naturally, once we received this promotional email about the recent remixes of Laidback Luke’s ‘Til Tonight’ (MSTRKRFT remix located at top) we couldn’t resist posting it up on the website for the Boppers to enjoy as well as including the video of the original track.
*’Til Tonight’ is Out Now on Nervous Records including remixes by Ferry Corsten (another DJ performing at Nocturnal), Tom Trago, Chris Kaeser and MSTRKRFT as well as a Radio, DUB and Original edit.
I’ve some really great tracks to share with you today. Some nice sexy music to get you moving through your week.
To start things off, we have UK Garage master and Daft Punkcollaborator, Todd Edwards on the 1′s and 2′s with a remix. This is a really nice and dramatic sounding remix and really showcases his skill at cutting up samples and forming hooks. I’ve always had great respect for him as an artist and this is a great example of his work.
Finally, we close the day with a remix of one of my favorite bands, Death From Above 1979, which stars JFK (of MSTRKRFT/Teenage Riot Records) and Sebastien Grainger (who’s done vocals for DATA among others). To continue the namedrop list, the remix is by Girls Are Short, aka AL-P (of MSTRKRFT). He also produced & recorded the original song and later reprised his remix with all new instruments and attitude as Marczech Makuziak. Also, Al finally has a Facebook. (Inside joke)
Right in sync with the release of the new A-Team the movie, MSTRKRFT’s Al-P, M.I.A ‘s Rye Rye and Dan the Automator (Producer for Gorillaz) have delivered an arsenal of A-Team Theme remixes that are sure to SHAKE things up in the electronic world. Check out each artist’s impression of the A-Team as long as their own version for each character in the Classical and newly produced A-Team. Each artist does a great job of doing what the movie does, delivering the PAST in a new FUTURISTIC VISION. REEEEeeemix. (also included is Just Blaze’s Murdock mix).
This week’s post isn’t really as retro as it usually it is, although full none the less.

First up we have a GIANT Moroderesque track by producer Kris Menace. Some of you may already be familiar with his remix of Felix Da Housecat’s Something 4 Porno and also their collaboration together. This track originally came out in 2006 as many epic sounds like this were coming out of Europe, especially France, with artists like Alan Braxe and Lifelike hitting hard. You can get this track and many more great cuts on Kris Menace’s 3 CD LP, Idiosyncrasies.
Finally, a classic cut by homies MSTRKRFT off their debut album, The Looks. This is a fun and aggressive dance track with a lot bite. Perfect tie-in to mention the lovechild of JFK (1/2 of MSTRKRFT) and Adrian Martinez (Undocumented Management Boss). Teenage Riot Records. Its a brand new record label dedicated to releasing new and fresh music. They’ve already got 1 EP out, BEEHIVE, thats charting well in Beatport and being played out by huge DJ’s the world over (including myself). Look forward to the label’s second release coming out tomorrow by Blende.
