Word up Boppers.

This week we have one French electro classic and a classic disco house jam.

First up is DJ Mehdi’s first “big” track, I Am Somebody, which was also his first release on Ed Banger Records. Also starring in this great party jam is Chromeo, providing hot vocals and additional production. This post particularly features the “Paris” version which has slightly different instrumentation at the end of the track compared to the “Montreal” version.

Finally, we have this big disco House tune by Room 5 aka Junior Jack. It features 2 samples, one for the vocal and one for the instrumental. This is a nice fun track to drop in a set for that instant “House” feeling. Its nice and accessible.

More classy goodness this week.

I think we all know who could rock these kicks hard!

First up is a Prince sampled/remixed track by Paul Johnson. Very little was done here so as to keep the song in tact. Just a little bit of jack drums and editing make this a perfect track to mix in your set for a Prince throwback.

Finally, we have a House anthem by Dajaé. Instead of her frequent collaborator Green Velvet, this time she gets the production treatment from “Felix Stallings”. Although this particular mix is the Junior Jack Main Mix, you still feel the Chicago vibe busting out.

Smoking Kills

Bonjour Boppers.

More classic bopper madness here. A crunchy Ed Banger cut plus a funky proto-house classic remade and remixed.

This track is all about the bassline and the soul. This track features vocals from the House Music classic, Get Down Saturday Night by Oliver Cheatham, remade by Junior Jack under his Room 5 alias. This is particularly the Axwell Dub, which is a stripped down mix focusing on the bass groove and a mega build/breakdown.

To close things up we go back into the infancy of the now world famous, Ed Banger Records. 006 in the catalog, this is track 2 on SebastiAn’s debut EP, Smoking Kills. It got lots of play by the Ed Rec crew and lots of other DJ’s who were supporting the budding revived French Electro scene. Great track on a nearly constant 4/4 beat. Great track to play out.

WORD UP BOPPERS!

Hope you all are ready for thee Cat’s Meow @ Jet Nightclub in Las Vegas. Gonna be very HYPE. Then, when that’s done, we can all head over to Crazy Horse 3 where you will greeted with DJ sets by Disco Villains, myself, RAPTOR and Randee Bugga.

First song is nice House track proudly showcasing a talk box performance with a complete 80s funk vibe. Massive remix by Junior Jack which is good for large club environments. Nice long breakdown and classic TR-909 drums. Definitely a groove track.

DJD Presents the Hydraulic Dogs - Shake It baby (Junior Jack 12 inch remix)

What? Another Le Knight Club remix? You bet your sweet candy ass it is. This is a particularly great track because of all the energy in it, but also because its very simple. I like these type of trax alot and who better to display minimalist (artistically) production at best than Daft Punk? I will be playing this at the party on Monday for sure.
