Da Change

Yo Boppers.

mercurius fm mondays Da Change

First up we’re going back to the early 90s vinyl days… here is a classic tune by Romanthony. This is a great track, both for listening and the dancefloor. This track was original coupled with Hold On, a similar track that was later rereleased on Thomas Bangalter’s label.

This next track is a 80s infused remix by Alan Braxe & Fred Falke. Quite aggressive sounding for their usual sound but still lush and dynamic. This is a great track for those who love electric baselines.

Signature

Word up Boppers.

Welcome to another edition of Mercurius FM Monday. This time we’ve got some newer material with a synthesizer emphasis.

Our first post is a hot remix by a short lived duo called VNDLSM. This is a fantastic electro house remix of Whitney Houston‘s 90s Chaka Khan cover, I’m Every Woman. I used to listen to this remix a lot. It was really popular in the blog circuits, but is professional grade production. VNDLSM now lives on through AutoErotique.

Finally we’ve got a classy remix of the Australian act Van She by French House legends Alan Braxe & Fred Falke. This is a great track with a nice long vibe which is an obvious throwback to the Moroder days. It also features a bassline by Fred Falke using his signature tone we’ve come to love. During this time, the duo were both producing a lot of remixes, many of which were great like this one.

Spinal Scratch

Word up Boppers.

Another Monday, another couple of great tax.

mercurius fm mondays Spinal Scratch

First track is a great chill tune by Alan Braxe, with his friends Fred Falke and Savage. Very beautiful track with lots of syncopation happening. I was in love with this track when it first came out. They released it on Alan Braxe’s own Vulture Music using a 1 off alias, Defender.

In closing, we have a very tough House track by Thomas Bangalter. Filled with lots of scratch fills and a fantastic working of an old jazz sample. I could see this one still working today and would definitely play it out.

Don’t Assume

Word up Boppers.

For this week’s post we’ll go French again with some old school movers and shakers.

First off is the now-world-famous Alan Braxe with his classic House guitar anthem, Rubicon. Alan Braxe is most well known for his hit single Time Out and production work with Thomas Bangalter for Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You. This track was also a favorite among fans. It also features bass by Braxe’s long time compadre, Fred Falke.

Next, we go even further back to a man who is one of the founders of French House… Etienne de Crecy. Although he is better known now for his much more distinctly “tech” sound (see Super Discount 2), he started off making slow funk and jazz grooves (see Super Discount). This cut happens to be a remix by SebastiEn Leger from Etienne’s own solo album Tempovision. This mix is a bit more abstract than Leger’s usual but is still quite superb.
