Shuffle

Yo Boppers.

mercurius fm mondays ShuffleArt by Melissa B

With today’s post we’re going back in the mid 90s. The first track is by Inner Tube and is considered a classic. Packed to the brim with aggressive House shuffle drums and a pulsing bassline which goes in tandem with a smooth synth. Great to check out. Lots of cool little sounds in it.

Inner Tube – Pump Me Up! (Mumblin’ Jim Mix)

Next we have some classic French sounds from none other than Etienne De Crecy and Philippe Zdar aka Motorbass. I chose this track because it has some really cool drums. It also has the typical Motorbass sound, which is jazzy subdued soundscapes. Good jam.

See you next time!

Before the Beginning

Merry Christmas (almost) Boppers.

Welcome back… Today I’m posting 2 remixes of 2 old school protolectrohousedisco jams. The original tunes are well known in thee underground, although these remixes are somewhat lesser known.

mercurius fm mondays Before the Beginning

First up is Junior Sanchez’s very straight forward House remix of Giorgio Moroder’s timeless classic, The Chase. This is a good remix if you’d like to play out The Chase in a club with some beefed up sound. Its not over the top, but rather a classy and refined remix for your party of choice.

Giorgio Moroder - The Chase (Junior's Retro Mix)

-

Next, is a remix of German electronic pioneers, Kraftwerk, by French production wiz’s Alex Gopher & Etienne de Crecy. This track is quite energetic featuring Etienne’s signature basslines and Alex Gopher’s keen sense of groove. Its a fun remix to play in an electro house set to remember the beginning of electronic music.

Hope you have a safe holiday week!

A little THurrrsday fun

First off big UPS to some of the BIG record labels we love and SUPPORT

First off pat on the back to Mad Decent, and more importantly the one they call DIPLO

I heard this song..the original, not the Toadally Krossed Out rework (available July 20th), was played at EDC over and over and OVER again… [original source ]

Second I want to give big UPS to Steve Aoki and DIM MAK‘s latest SNIPE … Etienne De Crecy. (Dim Mak is home to many of our favorite DJS and supporters, Felix Cartal, Motor, Osawa etc etc) [Original Source ]

This song/video is old..but hey it’s still good..who can forget the more than awesome CUBE. Rivaling Daft Punk’s Pyramid? Maybe, maybe not.

Steppin’ Up

Word up Boppers.

To start this week off, I’ll congratulate bopperette Melissa B’s stunning artwork for a Keith Haring tribute she participated in called “Stick On Haring!” Her art is on display along with other talented artists at Festival LiberArti in Montaione, Italy. You can see it below.

Now on to the music… The first track here is an extended mix by the label/production team A Touch of Class. Its a mix of the song Superstar by their star talent, The Ones. Nice long mix with a grooving baseline the whole time. Classic dance music vocoder and lots of little things going on here.

The Ones - Superstar (A Touch of Class Extended Mix)

Next up, we have a tech banger by French masterminds Etienne De Crécy and Alex Gopher. This track came off the fantastic Super Discount 2 album, which featured several tracks by Etienne De Crécy with collaborations by artists such as DJ Mehdi, Boombass (of Cassius) and more. This is a personal favorite of mine and very much worth checking out, as is the first (and drastically different) Super Discount.

Finally, to wrap things up I’d like to show you a remix I made for (another) contest, this time for MIA/Hard LA. You can check out my remix HERE.

Thats all folks!

Don’t Assume

Word up Boppers.

For this week’s post we’ll go French again with some old school movers and shakers.

First off is the now-world-famous Alan Braxe with his classic House guitar anthem, Rubicon. Alan Braxe is most well known for his hit single Time Out and production work with Thomas Bangalter for Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You. This track was also a favorite among fans. It also features bass by Braxe’s long time compadre, Fred Falke.

Alan Braxe & Fred Falke - Rubicon

Next, we go even further back to a man who is one of the founders of French House… Etienne de Crecy. Although he is better known now for his much more distinctly “tech” sound (see Super Discount 2), he started off making slow funk and jazz grooves (see Super Discount). This cut happens to be a remix by SebastiEn Leger from Etienne’s own solo album Tempovision. This mix is a bit more abstract than Leger’s usual but is still quite superb.
