We’ve got some more trax that would make Jack proud.

Our first track is a cut by Sedat from the wonderful label Crydamoure. It features your typical filter house affair here… a House beat backed with a funky repetitive sample and a heavy dose of lowpass filter for the breaks. Nice jam to whip out in a set to change things up a bit.

Next up, we go back to the first generation of House music. Back when Jack was still throwing down on his box and kids were playing with drum machines, keyboards and a 4 track mixer trying to make hits. This is a fun track to check out especially if you like old school House. Its also worth noting that I copped this from a fantastic blog called Beat Electric. Nerd fact: K-Alexi who is a member of Risqué Rhythum Team was mentioned in Daft Punk’s Teachers.

Today, we have quite the post… mostly Daft Punk related, but thats not a bad thing, right?

Here is a fantastic live version of Daft Punk’s Rock’n Roll. Its from 1997, recorded at Le Rex Club in Paris. Back then, the boys used to go on stage with about 7 grand worth of equipment and no computers. Everything was just MIDI synced, basically recreating their studio setup. When I make a techno tune this is exactly where I’m coming from.

Next up is a Christmas themed House track by none other than Le Knight Club. You know I’m real keen on these tracks and normally I wouldn’t be so heavy on them, but given the season, I’m ok with it.

Finally, as a treat for the Holidays, I turned to my personal Disco source, the one I call when I need a new sample, my fellow funkateer, Melissa B, for a special holiday Disco groove.

As she puts it…
“It makes you feel special and unique. It lifts you up to where you should always be I think. Well at least me, it makes me happy.“

Everyone have a safe and happy holiday. I know sometimes stuff gets tough, but try to be happy with what you have. Most importantly, be happy that you’re alive, because in the end, you’ve only got yourself and thats the greatest gift of all.

More Daft Punk Live / More Le Knight Club

Its Monday… you know what that means, more funky House music!

First, a quick recap of Friday where I saw MSTRKRFT play in Vegas and kill it so hard!

Now for the music! First up is Le Knight Club, the side project of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk. Need I say more? Yes, actually. He’s half of Daft Punk, he produced Sebastien Tellier’s stunning album “Sexuality“, and is the co-owner (along with Éric Chedeville) of legendary underground French record label Crydamoure. Enjoy.

Next up is a House act from New York City known as The Ones. This is the dub mix of there most well known track, Flawless. I particularly like it because of the emphasis on the chorus and how certain things are soloed. Feel free to speed to whatever BPM you like.
