Forrest Pump

Happy 4th of July!

Lets take a moment and let Mr Hendrix start us off….

Now on to the House & Techno…

Today I’m featuring a project by Australian producer Acid Jacks called Forrest Pump. If you love heavy techno with big crushing drums and ghetto house samples thrown in the mix, then you’ll love this FREE ep he posted to his Soundcloud.

Get it here…

You can buy more Forrest Pump music at Beatport.

Check out Acid Jacks for more techno-y goodness and his record label, Idiot House Records, for more great music.

As an added bonus, we all (should) have heard the future classic Jack On The Moon by Carte Blanche. A great track off their latest EP, White Man On The Moon. I made an edit of the track for my DJ sets, removing most of the piano parts and making it a bit more aggressive… You can check out my edit here.

Have a great day.

Before

Hey Boppers.

mercurius fm mondays Before

Starting things off with some old school goodness, we’ve got a track from 1995 by Simon of Basement Jaxx. This track is more jazzy than I usually care for, but its good none the less. Its a clear demonstration of how good Basement Jaxx were even before their commercial success.

Ratcliffe – Back To Da City

-

There’s not much to say about this track other than that its “out of this world”… That was pretty cheesy, but the truth is this track is pretty abstract. Not that its a surprise coming from Green Velvet. Definitely worth checking out this old school techno stomper.

One Man Party

Yo Boppers!

Starting today, I’m changing the format of my post slightly. So far I’ve only included classic tracks, but I’m going to start opening that up a little bit to also include some new material by artists who still work the old way! Don’t worry… no dubstep here… House & Techno always.

mercurius fm mondays Screen shot 2011 06 13 at 1.25.25 PM One Man Party

To start things off, I’ll feature a Belgian DJ known as One Man Party. Some of you may know him as Steve… the drummer of Soulwax. To quote his bio, he was given the name “One Man Party” by James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem after witnessing him go berserk on the dancefloor. All that aside, having seen him DJ twice, once alongside him, I can say with true confidence that he is an excellent DJ. Perhaps the greatest part about his sets is that he’s not afraid to draw in music from all genres… because the sounds may go from dark techno beats to classic French House to AC/DC!

You don’t have to take my word for it though.

Check out his latest downloadable DJ mix posted for free on his soundcloud:

If that’s not enough, here is a remix he made for Wallace Vanborn:
RITE HANDS (One Man Party Remix) – Wallace Vanborn

Rumor has it he’s working on some original material. So far, we’ve only gotten a taste of what One Man Party has to offer, but its looking to be a great future.

White Labels

Word up Boppers.

Here’s some white labels for you.
mercurius fm mondays R 14262 1242377256 White Labels

To start things off, I’ve got an old DJ Sneak track from the 90s that features Samuel L Jackson’s famous dialog from the cult classic film, Pulp Fuction. We all know which part. Well here is a housey DJ tool for you. Well done and straight forward.

DJ Sneak – Ezeckiel 25 17

This part of the post is more of an update to a previous post. A long while back I posted a “DJ Sneak” remix of Donna Summer’s I Feel Love. Well I was wrong about who made it and it was also posted in 200 vbr quality. Rectifying that here is a 320 of this great remix along with the proper naming convention.

Hey boppers

Hello Boppers, It’s wolf. I want to share an email I received because I believe in transparency and the internet is full of bullshit. unfortunately there isn’t any music involved in this.

————-

To Whom it May Concern,
My name is Sean Mullen, I operate under the alias Wolf when I created the website: http://boppernation.com where I hosted links to media files. The aforementioned song, Pon De Floor (Chewy Chocolate Cookies remix) was Gifted to me to use on my website from the artist himself, Chewy Chocolate Cookies back in 2010 or whenever the link was posted. All music I have ever posted on my website was given to me by the artist/label/manager anyone who had permission to do so, I never operated on my own releasing content that wasn’t mine. I don’t update the site at all these days, it runs on its own now and is operated by others, but it still operates under the same conditions I have mentioned. If you wish to remove the music, fine, that song was released eons ago and is linked through several people with and without permission of the artist..but do not contact me again telling me I have violated any terms of service and do not contact 3rd parties, i.e. mediafire telling them I have violated any terms of service because everything I have ever posted was with permission from the people who created and own the music. From reading your email it says you represent Death Cab for Cutie, Jennifer Lopez, Snoop Dogg, etc. these names mean nothing to me and I have never released any of their content. Thanks.

Cordially yours, Sean ‘Wolf’ mullen

Disco House

Yo Bopperz.

mercurius fm mondays disco 300x225 Disco House

Now this is my type of jam. Lots of disco sampling make this track a true disco House tune. Couple that with some sexy shuffle drums and you’ve got yourself a party. Great track by the elusive Adjuster.

We’ve got some more disco stomping goodness on this next track. A cool remix of Space Cowboy’s Crazy Talk. It features new House diva vocals and tons of low pass filtering. Any fans of the classic disco House sound be sure to check this one out.

Hot Shot

Hi Bopperz.

mercurius fm mondays Hot Shot

Today we’re starting off with a jazz remix by Japanese producer Mondo Grosso, aka Shinichi Osawa. In his typical fashion this track bangs hard and is full of sound. The bassline here is real thick, and the breakdowns are real classy. Fun jazzy party tune.

Archie Shepp – Blues for Brother George Jackson (Mondo Grosso Next Wave Mix)

-

This next track isn’t really House, more of a disco edit thats basically proto House. Masters At Work take this hard disco tune and make it even harder and structured for djing. Great track that doesn’t stray far from the original. Bonus points for anyone who knows what track 2 famous Parisians sampled the original of this track in.
