Happy Holidays, Prepare for the New Year with one of the most RESPECTED and UNDER RATED LEGENDS..ERRRrrOoool Alkan and his remix of Hot Chip’s tune ‘Boy From School.’

Erol Alkan has a resume that would fill up the whole page of Bopper Nation. From his rowdy club shows to his wicked collaborations to his ingenious remixes Erol has always been the one to KEEP the FUNK alive. But above all else he is humble and would never dream of talking so positively about himself.

But, ‘Don’t Believe the Hype’ listen to the music yourself.

This remix and song strangely reminds me of Radiohead, which makes me even more happy. Without a doubt this tune is a track of the week/month. From the first time I heard it to each time that I put it on and feel the rhythm lay out it’s eerie vocals and the cold dark deep tone reminds me what it’s like to be a ‘boy from school.’

Erol Alkan | Hot Chip

Featuring Afrojack’s remix of ‘Cool’ as a Track of the Week was an unanimous decision. Rising artist like Afrojack remind me why I live and breathe the air of blissful audio waves. His music nestles right in there with a category of tunes I like to call bubbling and it mixes perfectly with the acid like tones of house, but also has the strength and power to match the electro scene. His remix of Riverside was one of the earlier tunes to catch my attention, but I still find myself playing out his Moombah remix and let us not forget his original hits too!

The ‘Cool’ remix contains many of the elements that make up my love and enjoyment of Afrojacks music. It has those bubbling tones and fun vocals, “So what I really wanna say is…” but most importantly his music never lets you get bored by conservatively switching things up throughout the song. The important thing to notice is Afrojack’s control, he plays with a great deal of elements that can be full blown abused, such as the sirens and bubbling wah wahs, but he keeps it together and at times where most artist would find themselves leaning on a particular sample for 3 minutes he knows exactly when to drop and breakdown each song.

Each of different spins on ‘Electric Sex’ bring something of merit and contain the respective artist unique and different styles while maintaining the essence of the original ‘Electric Sex.’ The Radio Edit by Cory Enemy contains his heavy riff signature, but more importantly in it’s firepower is a sense of maturity and organization. Finding that happy medium and control of when to drop that menacing bass is what separates the hard from the ‘happy hardcore.’  With sexy beeps and rainy sound waves the Dillon Francis remix is the perfect tune to get the bodies sweating on the dance floor. The Illuminati remix slowly builds up into a frenzy of noise which will surely imprison the bodies in dance, play at your own risk!

I will once again repeat, ‘Double Negative’ is one hell of a track too, with an original and Illuminati remix that are worth checking out as soon as they become available!

Flash! OoOOooOo Savior of the Universe!

Hi:Fi vs. Dave Darell - Flash 2.9 is one hell of a song and with the history of it in our early bopcasts with Papa Fe it is no surprise that it was chosen as our Track of the Week!

This is a song for the mature and although it may bring up awkward memories of the recent ice-skating movie, with Will Ferrel and that Napolean Dynamite kid, I can assure you that the song came first! Queen & Vanguards Flash (2003) is a beast to be reckoned with and the Darell v. Hi:Fi is the fruit us electronic junkies hunger for!

Sit back and load the Bopgun. I’m taking the Boppers back to Lectro/Indie tuesdays, B.M.M. (Before Mr Momma) and taking others to Blades of Glory, but I hope I’m taking everyone to a place of extreme comfort and musical satisfaction!

This song has made a mess of things time after time and although it quite similar to Laidback Luke – My God, I figured it was appropriate we get the Big Cheese up on the site (after all we have had direct requests). And what better time to release a track from the Mau5 then following the release of his latest album ‘For Lack of a Better Name,’ and his latest performance at HARD in Los Angeles.

The track is FML. And it a Track of the Week to reckon with. If anyone plans to spin this out, I recommend using it wisely. It has been three weeks since this song was released on youtube and the feedback that Chewy Chocolate Cookies received was tremendous! This track was made by Chewy Chocolate Cookies as a gift to Felix Da Housecat & Gift to the Bopper Nation! I just want to add that this is it as far as Prince Remixes go. The original is great, we had a couple really amazing remixes from the contest: Disco Villains, Amplid, the winners etc. But after this it is time to move onto the the next Felix Da Housecat single, ‘LA Ravers!’ Thank you Chewy Chocolate Cookies, for not only sharing your world with the Bopper Nation in music, but also giving us a place to stay when we visit!

Today Zologie has tackled a song that has been touched by the likes of Skream, Nero & others…but I can assure everyone that the puzzle hasn’t been assembled like this before. Zologie has kept only the vocals in tact and spent much time on piecing the rest together, the way a remix should be done.

The Track of the Week is rarely ever a new tune, it is a focus on Thee tunes. I am talking about tunes that don’t have an expiration date, music that never tires and always makes the dance floor beat. The first time I heard this track I was passed out in the passenger seat of a long car ride and when this song came on my body was jolted awake and I felt alive again. The powerful production of Donovan mixed in with the passionate vocals of Tellier. When a song has a pulse with a rhythm so strong that it can’t be ignored, like an earthquake through the body, one must accept the existence of soul and be reminded of the beauty of art.

Our Track of the Month for September is by Siriusmo and is off his latest album “The Uninvited Guest!” This track was brought to Thee Nation by Felix Da Housecat himself. The album, which was recently dropped in July is still echoing its fatal blow and ‘High Together,’ a clash of the tango with a whiplash of electronic disco is our goodbye to Summer!

This song was just played recently by Felix Da Housecat in Vegas at the Palm’s Pool Party during Fabulous Fest and has been coming up on my playlist once a day ever since. It’s a killer tune and more than worthy of being our Track of the Week. The Sky Was Pink was officially released in 2004 and the fact that it is still a strong song five years later is something worth taking note of (a month is equal to one electronic year). DJs I highly recommend squeezing this into your set, Boppers feel free in joining me by paying tribute to this tune once a day. We all need to be reminded of masterpieces and genius in music, so pop this tune on, sit back and close those eyes.

Chewy Chocolate Cookies has been cooking up a storm and leaving many residents in the electronic world with only small remnants of chocolate smudges and smears on their clothes. And..just who is Chewy Chocolate Cookies? This biography can be found in the kitchen:

Preheat oven to 350*F (175*C). In large mixer bowl, cream
butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and
vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda,
and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in
chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie
sheets. Bake 8 to 9 minutes. DO NOT over bake! Cookies will
be soft. Cool slightly on cookie sheet; transfer from sheet
onto wire rack to cool completely.

Felix Da Housecat has nothing but love for Lil Feezy and the two have been up in the DJ booth together.
