Originally born in Boston, Eric Sharp has made a name for himself in San Francisco as a premier DJ and promoter, as well as a solid music businessman.  As a versatile DJ, Eric built a following at his residency at San Francisco’s acclaimed Temple Nightclub, spinning anything from House & Electro to Techno & Dubstep or Breaks and Minimal (depending on the gig and the crowd). But his latest music, as well as his businesses are severely focused projects.  Rock It Science events, first started out doing warehouse parties, became too big and lead to the creation of Rock It Science Laboratories, his own label.

Recently released to much hype in the Bay area, the Thundercats EP had much success, earlier this year appearing as the opening track in a Tommie Sunshine mix, as well as an XLR8R podcast and blogged over the interwebs.

So what has this one-man music and event machine been up to?  Creating some killer sounds, that’s what… with support by artists such like Tommie Sunshine, Larry Tee, Donald Glaude, Markus Shulz, Flipside, Audiostalkers, TJR and Santiago, you know he’s on his way to keeping the crowds on their toes.

This is a new and unreleased track by Eric that really gets you to dance!  The track does a great job of grinding some dirty life into this already fantastic song, and showing some real grit to slam the speakers with. With this 2010 edit, Eric gives DJ’s another great way to spin some bouncy beats into their mix!

Not available on the EP, but blogged many times already, this is quite a cool take on the bass heavy track.

“I wanted to give everyone a good sampling of some of the different parts of the genre I’m into right now. You’ll find some dutch sounds, some tech house sounds, some breaks, a lot of dubstep elements, some grunge rock – a new personal fave I’ve been getting into – and of course slamming, peak-hour electro basslines throughout! I featured some artists that are fresh to the scene and making banging tracks such as Uppermost from France and PeaceTreaty from the US. I also included two tracks I worked on personally – A mashup of Felguk’s “Exceeder” w Afrojack’s “Bangduck” and a cover I remixed on for La Bouche’s “Sweet Dreams”. Both are available for free download at www.soundcloud.com/miketeez.

As usual I start off heavy and dirty and keep it pretty much balls to the wall throughout; though there are a couple down moments to catch your breath! I’m especially fond of the Zodiac Cartel Remix in the middle of the set; it’s very grimy! And if you listen close near the ending of the mix you’ll hear the sickest Sesame Street sample ever! I remember like yesterday that we all gathered together and payed tribute to Michael Jackson’s passing. Yes the Website itself was formed in the ashes of Justin.tv when Felix hit the tour heavy and the Boppers no longer had a place to gather…

Everything else today sounds like a bunch of static…It’s been one year since the POP man left his Kingdom in the World….but I’m sure somewhere the GOD is singing, dancing and loving.

So the recap was bit more of MY experience and less on the MAN himself. But let me fill you in on what you NEED to know about the NEW Felix Da Housecat and his recent set changes. First off…we have BROKEN this DEADLY ERA of REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT ELECTRO ELECTRO ELECTRO because you know what HOLY shit…it’s DEAD!!!!!!!!

Felix has pushed us into the Fewcha…and baby HOUSE is BACK! OLD SCHOOL is BACK! But with a FLASH of the MORDERN. And there are so many unreleased GREAT hits….WHERE was that Junior/Felix DA Housecat tune…did I HEAR IT and NOT EVEN KNOW!??!?!?!

Of course our love is still there: Raven, Kickdrum, DRONE, etc….. BUT baby only a little bit….If you want to hear the SAME damn songs played with the same damn loops..then don’t GO to a FELIX DA HOUSECAT show…but if you want to see where the FUTURE is…what those mothers in Europe are doing, those mothers in IBIZA…then come..FElix Da Housecat BRINGSSSSSSSSSSS IBIZA TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have dropped a mad mad mix into our laps, filled with heavy banging and techno disco sounds. It’s so ballistic, they couldn’t fit it into one hour, so this month you get a full two hour set!

“It’s two hours long, because we couldn’t decide which songs to drop to make it an hour, so we said fuck it, let’s make it two hours. It includes a bunch of our tracks, but we also really tried to show a broad range of what we like to play and listen to. So you hear some Dutch stuff in there, some techno stuff in there, not necessarily Detroit techno, but more old school techno. Some dubstep in there, some breaks.. little of everything. We really thought it out so it’s something that makes sense, the way it flows. It goes up and down. I think if people have a two hour drive and pop it on, you’ll really enjoy the journey it takes you on.”

Time for another Mercurius FM Monday… Some good jams below. I know in this post I’m really hitting hard with ridiculous producers and their old material. But the fact that this stuff is still so rad and solid, even today is a true testament to the time and dedication it takes to master a craft.

The first track is a mega track, remixed into a mega remix. To start things off, we have a dope hook sorted out by Swedish House Mafia member, Steve Angello. Then, if that wasn’t enough, Eric Prydz tightens it up and makes it more club oriented transforming it into one of the most epic and uplifting dance tracks ever made. Buy the full single here.

Finally, we have an old French House favorite by LifeLike. Hot off his 2002 debut EP “The Cult” this track was a favorite of many DJ’s including DJ Falcon. Lifelike uses his signature sound on this track, as usual, a tight and thick lowend coupled with an 80s hook. Fans of Felix’s studio albums should enjoy this track. This one is rare and out of print.

First, we have another classic from Thomas Bangalter… Do I really need to say more? This track is so rad and energetic. You can hear the vinyl crackle from when he sampled it.

Finally, a classic from Romanthony. The voice behind Daft Punk’s “One More Time” and “Too Long”. He also has various classic House cuts. This track doesn’t really display his singing talent, but instead is just ridiculously good production. This track was made circa 1997.

TV to reality, a Bopper convention in la la land at the Avalon in LA one night and another at the Palms in Gutie World Las Vegas where the puppeteer uses mezcal and his instruments to control the crowd with electricity and vibrations. The show Saturday opened with Tits & Clits remix of Prime Time foreshadowing a dirty evening with Felix’s record breaking number of guests crowding the stage and DJ Booth. The show on Sunday was a different beast all together. Without a planned set Felix declared his whole library fair game and even took requests. The show never would have ended if it were up to the Boppers and once the staff realized this they stepped in pulling the cord, literally, but not before Radiohead – Exit Music (for a film) was played.
