Get Funky Get Down

Word up Boppers!

Here are some new jams to make your week better. Some crushing techno by the kings of French House – Daft Punk and a classic House jam.

mercurius fm mondays Get Funky Get Down-

First up we have a monster techno remix made by our Neon-Robot-Gods, Daft Punk. Check out this 1997 goodness right here. Such a hard beat and an interesting rhythm. This is a good track to pull out if you want the dancefloor to transform into Berlin circa 1997.

Micronauts - Get Funky Get Down (Daft Punk Remix)

-

Next up we have a real classic House jam, dating back to 1992. Features a rather standard House Music format and a classic recognizable synth line. The name of the game is making you move and this is a track that did just that. You can also cop the Tommy Sunshine edit here.

Sweet Beats

Hello Boppers!

A new week, a couple new beats. (well, not so new)

mercurius fm mondays Sweet Beats

Art by Melissa B

-

Our first track is by Chicago based House producer, Paul Johnson. This is a nice fun tune with a nice famous sample. Paul Johnson shows us that its not always about tricks, sometimes a simple beat can carry you a long way.

-

Finally, we have a monster French House classic by Alan Braxe. This record is Braxe’s very first record released in 1997 on Thomas Bangalter’s critically acclaimed Roulé Records label. It’s also worth noting this is the 3rd record to be released on his label.

Specimen A - Cold As Ice

I come from a heavy background in Classical Rock…so Foreigner DIRTIFIED and grimmed in Dubstep is my Sex. Enjoy

“Specimen A drop an exclusive free download of their eagerly awaited dubstep bomb ‘Cold As Ice’, a monster cover of Foreigner’s 80′s classic given a nasty bassline makeover 2010 style. This one drops hard like the titanic!

Watch out for their next single ‘Chasing Shadows’ dropping soon on Funkatech Records.” – Melissa Mac x

DJ Sneak - Southern Boy (12th Planet and Flinch remix)

We’d be fools to not give full coverage to John’s arrival on the Public Record, we’d be fools not to support anything 12th Planet is doing since he is making soooo much noise in Los Angeles that my friends in Santa Barbara, miles away are begging him to come play.

The music speaks for itself and as promotional partners of Xmix Records, posting a DJ Sneak remix is a must. Enjoy the music, Check out Public Record, go get more 12th Planet, get into SMOG and get John’s ass to your neighborhood or go visit his!

Back 2 Love

Word up boppers.

I spent some time this weekend working on remixes, one of which I gave a nice funky baseline and lowpassed the whole track for the breakdown. Reminded me of the ol’ French House days. Which brings us to this post. :)

mercurius fm mondays Back 2 Love

The Fairlight CMI

-

Our first track is a Daft Punk bootleg released on white label in 2000. It was on a release called Stronger which featured one other mix if this song and 2 club mixes of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Nice production here and cool vocals in the middle. But is it truly a Daft Punk made track?

Daft Punk - Don't Believe the Hype (Mix 1)

-

Next up is a mega tune by one of my personally favorite producers, Lifelike. Its his own remix of his club hit The Soul of My Love. The original is of course classic, on par with the mega french house hits of its time such as Around The World, Music Sounds Better With You and Sound of Violence. But this particular mix is as if Lifelike looked into a crystal ball and predicted the next few years of dance music. Check out his new record label called Computer Science.

See you soon!

Everyday

Yo Boppers.

More classy goodness this week.

mercurius fm mondays Everyday

I think we all know who could rock these kicks hard!

-

First up is a Prince sampled/remixed track by Paul Johnson. Very little was done here so as to keep the song in tact. Just a little bit of jack drums and editing make this a perfect track to mix in your set for a Prince throwback.

Paul Johnson - Erotic City

-

Finally, we have a House anthem by Dajaé. Instead of her frequent collaborator Green Velvet, this time she gets the production treatment from “Felix Stallings”. Although this particular mix is the Junior Jack Main Mix, you still feel the Chicago vibe busting out.
