DJ Sneak - Southern Boy (12th Planet and Flinch remix)

We’d be fools to not give full coverage to John’s arrival on the Public Record, we’d be fools not to support anything 12th Planet is doing since he is making soooo much noise in Los Angeles that my friends in Santa Barbara, miles away are begging him to come play.

The music speaks for itself and as promotional partners of Xmix Records, posting a DJ Sneak remix is a must. Enjoy the music, Check out Public Record, go get more 12th Planet, get into SMOG and get John’s ass to your neighborhood or go visit his!

Back 2 Love

Word up boppers.

I spent some time this weekend working on remixes, one of which I gave a nice funky baseline and lowpassed the whole track for the breakdown. Reminded me of the ol’ French House days. Which brings us to this post. :)

The Fairlight CMI

Our first track is a Daft Punk bootleg released on white label in 2000. It was on a release called Stronger which featured one other mix if this song and 2 club mixes of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Nice production here and cool vocals in the middle. But is it truly a Daft Punk made track?

Daft Punk - Don't Believe the Hype (Mix 1)

-

Next up is a mega tune by one of my personally favorite producers, Lifelike. Its his own remix of his club hit The Soul of My Love. The original is of course classic, on par with the mega french house hits of its time such as Around The World, Music Sounds Better With You and Sound of Violence. But this particular mix is as if Lifelike looked into a crystal ball and predicted the next few years of dance music. Check out his new record label called Computer Science.

See you soon!

Everyday

Yo Boppers.

More classy goodness this week.

mercurius fm mondays Everyday

I think we all know who could rock these kicks hard!

-

First up is a Prince sampled/remixed track by Paul Johnson. Very little was done here so as to keep the song in tact. Just a little bit of jack drums and editing make this a perfect track to mix in your set for a Prince throwback.

Paul Johnson - Erotic City

-

Finally, we have a House anthem by Dajaé. Instead of her frequent collaborator Green Velvet, this time she gets the production treatment from “Felix Stallings”. Although this particular mix is the Junior Jack Main Mix, you still feel the Chicago vibe busting out.

Stay

Hey Boppers!

I’ve got some more goodies for you. Took me some time to pick out which tracks this week, but turned up with some more gems.

Melissa B

Our first track is by French House master, Sebastien Leger. Its a hard funky house track featuring Bopper favorite, Junior Sanchez. The intense groove on this track is sure to get people moving. Also worth noting, Leger is known to produce with all hardware… so real samplers, real drum machines, etc.

Sébastien Léger - No Problem (Ft Junior Sanchez)

-

It may come as a surprise to many Americans, but David Guetta actually made music before 2009. All jokes aside, this here is a remix of an old David Guetta single from 2004 as remixed by Le Knight Club (I don’t think I need to reintroduce them again). I really loved this track when I first heard it. It features very nice production, although minimalist in design, and a very dramatic vibe.

Catch you next time Boppers.

NAPT v Miike Snow v Passion Pit

Miike Snow, Passion Pit, NAPT - Black & Blue (NAPT remix)

-

Mashups are back and no one does it prettier than NAPT. This track is very HOT, Enjoy!

“Following their sell out Australian tour NAPT are giving away their N-Funk battle weapon remix of Miike Snow’s “Black And Blue” as part 2 of their Contraband series. Hold tight for their forthcoming new single “Emotion”, out later this year, with remixes from amongst others, DnB superstars Brookes Brothers.”

One would think that at this point in time, both Miike Snow and Passion Pit remixes had reached their peak across the electronic board. However, NAPT proves otherwise with this song right here. It is FRESH and ORIGINAL and Sleepy Head, Black and Blue are reborn in a new light, a NAPT light.

NAPT is doing huge things and in case you are one of the fortunate ones discovering them for the first time continue the journey through the links below.

Simian Mobile Disco is Fixed

“The mix we have done for Fixed is based on how we hope our residency with them in New York will pan out. Fixed has always been a forum for the deeper and odder end of disco and techno, but without forgetting that it’s still a party. We mixed this live in our studio, allowing us to throw some extra effects in there and also a bit of the 808 from time to time.” – Jas (of Simian Mobile Disco)

Simian Mobile Disco - Nerve Salad

These gentlemen are scientist. The music they produce speaks for itself (cliche, but necessary). ‘Nerve Salad’ is a mind f#ck, to say the very least. I always appreciate the static electricity these two vibrate through their tunes. I admit, I find myself a big fan of their Muse remix ‘Knights of Cydonia’ and of course the ‘Audacity of Huge.’ However, ‘Never Salad’ is not disappointing in the least bit, it is just one big vague tease of what we are going to see in their Fixed release for New York City.

Looping

Yo Boppers.

Here we are again, getting ready to jack. This is another great couple of tracks.

mercurius fm mondays 303 def 1024x539 Looping -

First up we have a track commonly mislabeled as a DJ Falcon track, but it is infact by a lesser known artist, Nicolas Vallée. Featuring a very funky synthesizer sample and very cool vocal cuts, this track is sure to get people moving.

Nicolas Vallée - New New York

-

Our next track is a Chicago House classic by Adonis. It features an iconic Roland TB-303 bassline backed with a Roland TR-808 drum kit. Simple dubbed lyrics and a continuous groove essentially make this a blueprint for generations of House and Techno artists to come.

Adonis - No Way Back

-

I’m starting a new post soon (tentatively). Its to feature new artists who do House and techno. If you’re interested in being featured, please check out this page.
