What a better way to end the weekend than to introduce the Bopper Nation to Little Dragon. Although straying from the more ‘traditional electronic’ music that we normally feature, the music of Little Dragon captures the inspirational era from which a lot of electronic music is based. Trapped in a time of it’s own, this band produces a sound, which could replicates the 80′s but is yet significantly their own.
Little Dragon, The Knife, so many greats from Sweden, as Tommie Sunshine said, “what is in the water in Sweden? I want a jug.” Those who enjoy the unique cocktail that is Swedish sound, prepare to be shaken not stirred and taken to the far away roosts of the Dragon’s nest. In the nest is Little Dragon, made up of Swedish Japanese singer, Yukimi Nagano, Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass), and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards). Both Bodin and Nagano also perform with Jose Gonzalez (another highly recommend artist-who I’ve been fortunate enough to watch perform while visiting London).
Fortune was chosen for its “homage to their down tempo roots” says Graham and ‘Twice’ considered “part one of Fortune” by graham, was chosen because the video itself was what made him “fall in love with Little Dragon.”
Afflicted wolf pick, ‘Come Home,’ which like ‘Fortune’ is a track from their latest album, Machine Dreams was chosen for it’s mechanical hum and chilly vocals, which bring that electric feel we so love. In fact, Machine Dreams, their latest album, has a more electric 80′s feel to it in general and that sound is especially present in the tune ‘Looking Glass.’ Another song that comes highly recommend is ‘Feather,’ the lyrics often pop in my mind throughout the day and I can’t help, but travel to the places their music brings me.
